Criticism/History – Greek Mythology by Jane Harrison  Read her work instead of the work of her contemporary, Sir James Frazier (Golden Bough) whose work, though interesting,  is not as well respected. Jane Harrison was a very respected scholar in the early 1900’s. She had a profound understanding of Greek Mythology.  Her work still stands. unlike Maria Gimbutas who is now seen as seriously impeded bypressure from 1970’s feminists to over-interpret on behalf of feminist politics.  This is a sad demise for a Dr. Gimbutas who was a promising anthropologist/mythologist)
