[--Parrot.] Origin The Ancient World : The Middle East : Old Babylonian Period : Return of Amorites to Babylonia : Time of Isin and Larsa Dynasties Description Nude winged goddess having clawed feet of bird of prey, upraised arms open to sides, standing on rumps of two recumbent horned ibexes. The talons of a bird of prey which the goddess has as feet (see also 2Bh.001 and 2Bh.307) represent a menacing presence to Parrot. He comments that the similar figure on a vase from Larsa (2Bh.002) appears to be blessing and is attended by beasts of a placid disposition except for a bull. Object Plaque (relief; ht. 7 7/8").
